Central Oregon MTB

The Lair is a recently completed free ride park on the west edge of town. It is about the size and shape of a baseball field. It is small but mighty with many of the features built with heavy equipment.  Every very inch is utilized. There are trails for beginner, intermediate and advanced free riders. The beginning trail has jumps in the 2 to 4 foot range. The expert one has jumps in the 6 to 10 foot range. There is no lift you have to ride or walk to the top. This is going to be a very popular place. Due to the proximity the new high end homes that will be built a stones throw away, the access options will likely change.

There is a single track access trail from Century Drive and the parking on the National Forest about a half mile west of the Entrada Lodge. It is also a short easy ride on a dirt road from Phil's Trail head if your trying to keep the dust off the SUV. Trails used to come up to this area from west Bend but the new residential golf development Tetherow Crossing closed those. There are no plans to reopen any bike trails directly through that property. They are however planning on allowing the access trail at the base of the rim along Century Drive.

Trail Fee: Although this trail-head is in the National Forest currently you do not need a forest pass and there is no fee.

Getting to the the Lair: By car go south from the Phil's trail-head a little less than 2 miles. Take the first left you can. After the gate which may be closed in the future stay on the blond cinder road. The tail end of this road is on topo maps but not in Google Maps.
